Highlights from the NWAS and Arriva Community Engagement

A big thank you to everyone who attended!

On Wednesday 30th September 2026, members of our community gathered at the Bangor African and Caribbean Centre (BACC) on High Street, Bangor, for a special engagement session with Mr John Hughes, Site Manager for Arriva bus. John looks after the Bangor, Llandudno and Rhyl depots, and he joined us to meet our members, share information and answer questions.

NWAS Executives in Attendance

We were honoured to have members of the NWAS leadership team with us on the day:

Cllr. Mr Samuel Njoku, Director

Cllr. Dr Salamatu Jidda-Fada, Trustee

Dr Victor Ebuele, Secretary

Miss Nessie Lokoro, Social Committee Head

Ighodalo Ebhodaghe, Communications Head

Their presence showed the organisation’s commitment to creating opportunities for our members and building strong links with local employers.

A Warm Welcome and Lively Conversation

It was wonderful to see so many members come along, ready to take part. Your questions, enthusiasm and willingness to engage made the session valuable for everyone in the room. John and the Arriva team spoke openly with members, and the conversation flowed throughout the evening.

What Was Covered

Employment and recruitment opportunities. John shared information about careers and recruitment at Arriva, giving members a direct line to the people who know the roles best. Attendees were able to ask about the opportunities available and what to expect.

Free weekly bus passes. As part of the visit, Arriva offered free weekly bus passes to members, with 25 adult and 25 child passes available. This initiative will help support travel and access for many families in our community.

Meeting and connecting. Beyond the information shared, the session was a chance to make valuable connections and get questions answered directly from the source.

Thank You to Arriva

We would like to extend a special thank you to John Hughes and the Arriva team for taking the time to meet with our community, answer questions and share these opportunities with our members. Their openness and commitment to engaging with local people are greatly appreciated.

Looking Ahead

We hope everyone found the information about Arriva's employment and recruitment opportunities, along with the bus pass initiative, beneficial. We encourage you to keep taking advantage of opportunities that can support our community's growth, employment and wellbeing.

Thank you once again for your support and participation. We look forward to seeing you at our future events and engagements!

Thank you for being part of our community.
