A Morning Among the Trees: Our Wildlife Walk in Bangor

On Saturday 26 September, members of NWAS joined a guided wildlife walk in Bangor, organised by North Wales Wildlife Trust and Race Equality First. The group was around 7 NWAS members, joined by four colleagues from the Trust and Khizer from Race Equality First, our main contact for the trip. It was a small, friendly group, ideal for a relaxed day outdoors.

Getting out into nature

The walk ran from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Autumn was just beginning to show in the woodland, with fallen leaves covering the paths and moss-covered logs along the way. Our guides from the Trust shared their knowledge of the local wildlife and habitats, pointing out things we might otherwise have walked straight past.

For many of us, it was a chance to slow down, step away from the usual routine and notice the nature that is on our doorstep in Bangor.

Lunch together

After the walk, we sat down to a shared lunch. It gave everyone time to chat, swap stories and get to know the Trust team and Khizer better.

Why days like this matter

Time in green spaces is good for our wellbeing, and it's even better when shared with others. Days like this make nature feel welcoming and accessible to everyone, and they help build connections between communities and the organisations working to protect our local environment.

Thank you

A big thank you to North Wales Wildlife Trust and Race Equality First for organising the day, and to the Trust team for their warmth and expertise throughout. A special thank you to Khizer from Race Equality First for being our point of contact and helping everything run smoothly. The trip was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and we are very grateful for their support in making it possible.

Thank you too to everyone from NWAS who came along and made the day so enjoyable. We hope to do it again soon!
