North Wales Africa Society Proudly Announces Members Speaking at United Nations Geneva Summit

Global voices for inclusion at the United Nations Geneva

The North Wales Africa Society (NWAS) is delighted to announce that the following members attended and spoke at the prestigious Global Empowerment and Inclusion Summit held on 21st May at the United Nations Palais des Nations, Geneva.

We are especially proud to celebrate Cllr. Dr Salamatu Fada, Trustee of the North Wales Africa Society, was announced as a speaker at this important international event. Dr. Fada’s dedication to empowerment, inclusion, and community development continues to make a meaningful impact both locally and internationally.

We are equally pleased to recognise Mfikela Jean Samuel, a member of the Working Committee of the North Wales Africa Society and COO & Co-Founder, who also participated as a speaker at the summit. His contribution reflects a strong commitment to leadership, diversity, and collaborative solutions for global development.

Their participation at such a significant global platform highlights the growing contribution of North Wales Africa Society members to international dialogue on empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable community impact.

Mfikela Jean Samuel – COO & Co-Founder

Mfikela Jean Samuel is a multi-award-winning contemporary artist, motivational speaker, and cultural advocate whose work bridges continents, communities, and lived experiences. Born in Cameroon and now based in North Wales, his practice fuses African heritage with global perspectives using art, storytelling, and public engagement as tools for dialogue, inclusion, and social change.

Mfikela is also a member of the Working Committee of the North Wales Africa Society (NWAS), where he contributes to initiatives focused on empowerment, diversity, and international collaboration.

Speaking at the Global Empowerment and Inclusion Summit at the United Nations Palais des Nations, Geneva, under the theme “Narrative Power: Culture as a Force for Global Peace,” Mfikela brought a distinctive voice to the global stage. His work spans international exhibitions, TEDx platforms, and community engagement across education and organisational settings—championing creativity as a pathway to empowerment, inclusion, and intercultural dialogue.

His participation at the summit reflects his continued commitment to reshaping global conversations through culture, advocacy, and inclusive storytelling.

Dr. Salamatu J. Fada – Trustee, North Wales Africa Society

Dr. Salamatu J. Fada is a Nigerian-British conservation scientist, climate policy advisor, and Trustee of the North Wales Africa Society. With over 20 years of experience across academia, government, and international development, she has contributed significantly to global discussions on climate justice, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Dr. Fada was announced as a speaker at the Global Empowerment and Inclusion Summit held at the United Nations Palais des Nations, Geneva. Her participation highlighted her longstanding commitment to empowerment, community development, and inclusive leadership on international platforms.

She has contributed to Just Transition frameworks in Wales and Nigeria and has held leadership roles in global climate initiatives, including COP and UN Women programmes. Dr. Fada brings an intersectional perspective to climate justice, gender equity, and inclusive governance.

Her work continues to inspire communities locally and internationally through advocacy, collaboration, and policy engagement aimed at building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
