NWAS to Host WANI Exchange Climate Justice participants as Part of Great Big Green Week 2026

The North Wales Africa Society (NWAS) is delighted to announce the WANI Climate Justice Exchange: Lessons from Nigeria, a special community event taking place as part of The Great Big Green Week 2026.

The event will be held on Friday, 12 June 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bangor African & Caribbean Centre, 346 High Street, Bangor, LL57 1YA.

The WANI Climate Justice Exchange brings together participants from Wales and Nigeria to explore climate justice through a global lens, sharing experiences, knowledge, and practical solutions to environmental challenges that affect communities across the world.

During the event, participants who recently took part in the WANI Exchange Programme in Nigeria will present their reflections and learning experiences. They will discuss the realities of climate change from a Global South perspective, highlight community-led responses to environmental challenges, and share insights gained through engagement with local communities, young people, and climate advocates in Nigeria.

The event aims to create meaningful dialogue between local residents, community organisations, policymakers, and environmental advocates. It will provide an opportunity to explore how international collaboration can strengthen local action and contribute to a fairer and more sustainable future.

Speaking about the event, NWAS Trustee Cllr. Dr Salamatu Jidda-Fada said:

"Climate change is a global challenge that requires global cooperation. The WANI Climate Justice Exchange provides a unique opportunity for communities in Wales and Nigeria to learn from one another and work together towards climate justice and sustainability."

The event is open to everyone, including students, community members, local leaders, environmental groups, and anyone interested in climate action and social justice.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with participants, learn about the outcomes of the exchange programme, and explore ways to become involved in future climate and sustainability initiatives.
